Comchat and Mentor
What is Comchat and Mentor?

For VCTA members, Comchat and Mentor are email discussion groups which provide instant contact with colleagues. A discussion group is a two-way method of 'posting' (sending) emails among a specified group of people.
There is a group specific to each VCE business studies subject. There is also one for VET and one for VELS (Years 7 to 10).
Using email, Comchat and Mentor participants can post to the group to ask a question, discuss issues, clarify course content and share ideas, approaches and resources. Responses are from anyone in the group who choose to reply to the query or comment. Please note: using Comchat and Mentor means that your email address can be seen by fellow users.
Comchat and Mentor provide VCTA members with a network of colleagues; you can have regular contract with a group of people, no matter where you teach.
What's the difference?
Comchat
Comchat is for experienced teachers. There is a Comchat for each of VCE Accounting, VCE Business Management, VCE Economics, VCE Legal Studies, VCE Industry and Enterprise, VET Business and VELS Economics & Civics and Citizenship (Level 4 to 6).
Mentor
Mentor is for those in their first year or so of teaching a subject. These teachers may have many questions and issues that experienced teachers may not have and Mentor is designed specifically for them.
Responses are from anyone in the group who choose to reply to the query or comment. In addition, there will be 'mentors' who also may respond. These mentors are a small number of experienced teachers in the subject who have agreed to give their time to provide online support.
There is a Mentor discussion group for each of VCE Accounting, VCE Business Management, VCE Economics or VCE Legal Studies. Mentor is not for teachers experienced in teaching the subject.
Inexperienced teachers can join both Mentor and Comchat if you wish.

How to post (send) a message
Once on a list, you can send a message to that list. Simply send the email to the group using the applicable address below.
