You be the judge: Free kits for VELS and VCE Legal

Crime and sentencing never fails to make the headlines. How as educators can we ensure an informed debate occurs in the classroom around sentencing issues? Using free resources produced by the Sentencing Advisory Council, teachers can provide students with the opportunity to ' be the judge' while exploring the principles, process and complexities of sentencing.

The Sentencing Advisory Council has two education kits, one aligned to VELS Years 9 & 10 and the other to the VCE curriculum (great for Legal Studies). They include activities, case studies and more.

You can order the free kits (with accompanying CDs) by phoning 1300 363 196 or by visiting the Council's website www.sentencingcouncil.vic.gov.au. You can also email on contact@sentencingcouncil.vic.gov.au

In addition the Council conducts free information sessions so do check them out.
