Fair Work: a new approach to industrial relations
July 2010
This student resource examines the key features of Australia’s new industrial relations system, Fair Work, in the context of pressures and opportunities for change in Australian industry, which is the focus of VCE Industry and Enterprise Unit 4.
‘The role of government in promoting change in Australian industry’ and ‘changing social values and attitudes on issues related to work such as changing expectations of participants in the workplace and the perceived social costs and benefits of changes to employees’ are two key topics in Area of Study 1 in Unit 4. This resource focuses on the introduction of the new Fair Work system as a pressure for change in response to changing attitudes to WorkChoices and the need for workplace flexibility.
